I have a 87 Jeep Cherokee that is being extremely weird. I can start it and drive it in reverse, but when i try to put it into drive it almost immediately stalls. It doesnt stall or hesitate in reverse just. As soon as i push on the gas to go forward it stalls..

Is it a stick shift?Are you letting go of the clutch too fast. If its automatic, then you may be having transmission problems. Something is slipping in there that needs to be fixed by your mechanic.
If it is an automatic, then drive it like a standard so-- dont put it in drive, but either 2nd gear or first gear.And stay in second gear till you drive it to the service station.

87 Jeep Cherokee had a recall due to faulty transmission sensor that might be the problem right there.

appears like the idle should be set too low on it,a make and form ought to have helped a lot in this one,,all i'm doing is guessing on the answer,it helps to provide what style of a automobile, and the engine length,it receives better effective solutions,solid success with it.
