I am a white businessman who started a business in Belize about 4 years ago. When Belize became independant, all stationed British Nationals ran like the wind.

Belizeans are incredibly racist and actively try to drive white businesses out of the country. They love the money coming in but hate white's making money in Belize.

Now, there are only 4 types of white people left in Belize.

1) Beach bums living on Caye Caulker
2) People running from the law in the US
3) People married to Belizeans
4) Immoral people that can get away with anything.

The Bahamas has flights to and from the UK and the flight carrier -- British Airways -- offers packages. Going to Belize requires that extra bit of effort, including the humiliation which British (and other foreign) travellers are subjected to at Miami Airport -- but my! Isn't it worth it!
