My personal take on this is that:
the meaning of life is to replicate your own life - i.e. to replicate and create more life forms which are as much like you as possible.
However this replication is not neccessarily done only by replicating your genes -
If, for instance, you replicate your ideas (inventions, music etc.) by popularizing them to other people in the best possible way then you are creating much more people like you (potentialy) and are replicating yourself in a sence. (replicating your soul perhaps...)
If you are advancing the interests of people who are ethnically ( genetically, culturally and mentally) close to you then you are advancing yourself in multiple replicas.
I hope my answer is not too fuzzy ... :-)

The meaning of life is to ask the question - What is the meaning of life? The answer has nothing to do with it however.

Romans 12:1-2
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Our purpose is to offer our bodies as holy sacrifices to God, and live a life that is pleasing to Him.
