I have a photoshoot coming up where I need to be tan, so I have been tanning just 7 mins at a time at the tanning salon. I know antibiotics make your skin more sensitive to sunburn, so Ive been just going that short ammount of time. Is that all the antis say to stay out of the sun for- because of sunburn or is there another reason? Please dont preach to me about how tanning is bad period, I KNOW, thats why I dont tan hardly ever. I just have to right now for a special event. Thanks for your help

The degree of photosensitive depends on the antibiotic. If you are on any of the following the potential for an adverse reaction is moderate to severe.

Tetracycline
Cipro
Quinolone
E-mycin
Sparfloxacin
Minocycline

Also, some birth control bills have the same caution. As always, you can check with your health professional for the best answer.

honesly, if it says stay away from sunlight, tanning, then you should probably do it. Have you ever considered uv free tanning? The technology has gotten much better in the past 5 years or so. Make sure that if you do this, do the mystic tan (brand name) this is the best quality spray on tan. Good luck
