Everyone is different, but bulimia is considered a psychological condition iand requires a multipdisciplinary team (psychologic, physician, and dietitian) to recover. Pregnancy is not a cure for bulemia and an active bulemic can cause serious harm to both herself and her unborn baby.

If a woman with active bulimia gets pregnant, these problems may result:

miscarriage
high blood pressure in the mother
baby isn't born alive
baby tries to come out with feet or bottom first
birth by C-section
baby is born early
low birth weight
birth defects, such as blindness or mental retardation
problems breastfeeding
depression in the mother after the baby is born

So it is VERY important to seek treatment BEFORE becoming pregnant or if you are currently, to seek treatment immediately.

This is not true AT ALL! Having an eating disorder when you get pregnant is EXTREMEMLY dangerous to your baby. The emotional issues that developed your eating disorder in the first place will not go away simply b/c you get pregnant. You need to deal w/ these issues preferably before you conceive. Being pregnant causes you to gain weight, which is essential to your baby. If you are underweight, you should gain 35-45 pounds and if you suffer from an eating disorder, this amount of weight gain may be difficult to handle. Being anorexic during pregnancy deprives your baby of nutrients he/she needs to thrive; being bulimic does the same, but the repetitive nature of binging and purging can cause you to go into premature labor, cause hemorraging, and heart problems. Please, if you have an eating disorder and want to get pregnant, get treatment for your eating disorder first to ensure the precious life you will carry.

No sadly it is not always true. If this is your case you need to let your doctor know right away. Eating disorders and pregnancy can be a deadly mix for mother and child if proper treatment and health care are not administered.

Your eating disorder does not quit because you are pregnant, it can often get worse.

Below I have put links to a couple good articles.

No, it can actually make the pregnancy more dangerous because you aren't getting the nutriants to the baby. Bulimia is something that you need to get help for, therapy or something along that line, in order to get over bulimia and not put the baby at risk.

I don't have it but I had a friend that did. You need to get therapy it just doesn't go away on its own. Pregnancy is not the cure for bulimia, sorry. Good luck.

No, because your body is used to taking in so much calories and then troughing it up again. So it would be hard to even give the baby enough nutrients. You would be watched very carefully and it would be hard. The baby can have lots of disabilities and the mohter would have complacations.

Bulimia is, at root, a mental illness. Pregnancy does not cure any mental illnesses.

Bulimia is NOT a disease. It is a choice you have made to puke up your food. Stop doing it and POOF it will go away. Loser
