Hi there! As an over paid and under appreciated employee of a Not For Profit, I am here soliciting your financial support.
Audits bear out that EVERY penny donated...EVERY PENNY! , goes directly to this divine effort! (After expenses, bonuses, and every employees six figure salary) Excuse that last! Over protective court decision proven statement to deflect those common and unwarranted attacks...Lawyer-ESE as it were!
But back to your much expected and generous to a fault participation...
It's obvious you want your name on the top of the generous and noble listing demonstrating your place of honor, clouds and heavens above those greedy misers to foolish to see past today, and content to miss the glorious here-after for their earned consequence of Eternal Oblivion!

Start with people you know. Invite people to your house for a one-hour event: perhaps coffee and bagels on a weekend morning or coffee and dessert at night. Have them mingle, and then give a ten-minute talk about the organization. Ask for money. People will donate. Then ask other people to do the same thing. Team them up, so it's two groups of friends invited, so people don't just see the same people.

Individuals give more money than foundations or corporations in this country, you just have to ask them.

Depending on what your not-for-profit does, you could always apply for a grant with a private foundation or a government. There are grants for everything from restoring art, doing research on certain topics including arts & sciences, to paying operating costs for certain museums.

I would start by checking with your local government and check the federal government's website. Then, you might need to get a hold of a reputable company that can give you the list of private foundations. Also, check the rich people in the town, they might already have foundations setup.

Big corporations usually have a designated person to look for non-profits that need money. It's a tax advantage for them! When you call, ask for that person! Banks, Hotels, big retail stores all have these departments.
