Just curious how many Christians would vote for the Senator from Illinois if he choose to run for President...

Do any of you know his religious stance??

He's a member of the United Church of Christ, a progressive protestant denomination with roots in the Reform and Congregationalist traditions (www.stillspeaking.org).

I think Obama would be a great candidate for president.

I'm a liberal progressive Christian clergyperson who supports Gay marriage, is pro-choice, and anti-war, so I may not fit the mold of "Christian" that you were thinking of when you posted this question.

The "muslim school" Obama attended was a non-sectarian school in a wealthy, cosmopolitian area attended by international students of many religious backgrounds. This sort of thing happens for expatriate communities all over the world. If you were an American working in Ireland, you'd likely send your child to a Catholic School. Same thing in Indonesia, which is significantly Muslim. This is also well before the rise of Muslim Fundamentalism.

Why would his religion have anything to do with his ability to be our leader?
If anything, it would make me more likely to vote for him!

Besides, what's that part of the constitution that requires that the government not endorse a religion? If I'm not mistaken, that's exactly what Bush has been doing.

He'll never get elected regardless of his qualifications. His name sounds too much like 'Iraq Osama'. Probably confuse too many people. Image is everything.
