He could simply jump right to the final situation if he wants. Some say the intermediates are there in order to teach people, or show them a lesson. The problem is that he could have simply made everyone aware of those things instinctually and then all of the pain could be avoided. And yes he could still do this while maintaining free will - he's omnipotent right?

Beta: You can still have free will that way. He would simply fill your brain with all the lessons you would have learned had you seen the plan unfold. You'd just have the knowledge. You would not be forced to do anything.

How could we have free will if we are forced into a predetermined result? We couldn't. Those who say the plan is primarily for our learning and benefit are correct.

There are several issues involved that need time in order to be settled.Remember that Satan challenged Jehovah's right to rule the Universe. Infact he charged that human would be better off governing themselves and that humans only worshipped God because of what they can get. Yes he could have just gotten rid of Satan and Adam and Eve immediately but that would not have settled the issues raised.
It's important thought ot realize that allowing time serves to permit us to see for ourselve sthe bad consequences of rebellion. Having freewill distinguishes us from animals who are governed by instincts. This is a loving provision by God. I definitely would not want to be goverened by instincts. The fact that he his omnipotent should assure us that he loves us and he knows what He is doing so just trust him
