Banff Hotels, Spas, cabins good places to stay??

I want to go to Banff this summer for a vacation. Has anyone went on vacation there before and where are the good places to stay? Good things to do?

I was in Banff a few years ago as part of a National Geographic mountain hiking expedition, and we stayed at the Banff Centre. which is a creative arts college. In summer, when classes are out, they rent the dorm rooms to generate income for modest prices. I don't know how far in advance you need to book, but if you can stay there, you'll love it.

The Banff Centre is set on a wooded campus on a hillside overlooking the city of Banff, but within easy walking distance of the restaurant and shopping area. It is a bit rustic, but with full amenities, including a gymnasium with a climbing wall (which I was TOTALLY into).

One thing for sure, it's gotta be cheaper than Banff Springs, which is beautiful in its own right, but pretty pricey.

Banff is so totally a beautiful city! At the right time of year, you may see Elk grazing in the city park, the climate is marvelous, the people are friendly, dining and shopping choices are good with fair prices. You are within a short drive to Lake Louise and Chateau Lake Louise, a little further to get to the Columbia Ice Fields, and right in the Canadian Rockies. Canadian - Pacific has a depot there, and if you can spare the time, it's worth the ride from Vancouver.

I was in a group that went from Banff to the Adamant mountains where we hiked the ridgeline for a week with fully qualified mountain guides. It was unforgettable.

You will fall in love with Banff, and may not ever want to come back home!

My advice is to stay in Canmore instead - it's only a 10 minute drive from there into Banff, and the hotels are cheaper, especially in the summer.

Banff Springs Hotel is a nice hotel, a little pricey but very nice!

Banff Springs is beautiful, lots of good places to hike and see wildlife in Banff as well! Tons of opportunity for fun.
