Slow cookers are set up to cook a meal to hot serving temperature using LOW for 8-12 hrs depending on the type of food. You also have the option of using HIGH instead of LOW for 4-6 hours. Some recipes suggest removing meat and adding thickener to make a gravy by then turning to HIGH for 15 min.

Yes, plenty warm enough.

I use mine every week and leave it for up to 12 hours on low while i am at work.

Good slow cookers with a high and low setting - the low will cook it and get it hot enough to serve without spoiling it if its left for more than the recommended time.

Ive just put beef, onions, mushrooms and beer in mine and it will be on for about 12 hours tomorrow.

You want the ingredients/dish to be cooked through - rather than hot enough. 10 hours of slow cooking will make the dish/food hot. Follow the manufactuer's instructions. You may not need 10 hours. Good luck, happy slow cooking. BTW, many of the new slow cookers get too hot too fast & food burns - particularly Rival.. Watch your cooker & adapt the cooking time.

after 6-8 hours any food should be cooked and with slow cookers the contents should be hot enough to serve

Yes, definately! Crock-pots are wonderful - I love mine & couldnt live without it. Buy the cheapest meat allowable and it comes out delicious! You can do anything in it, soups, main meals, sides and even desserts! Search for 'slow cooker receipes' on the web and see the fun you can have using it! It is really handy after a hard day at work and having to make only pasta or something when you get home. Good luck with it!

I tend to put my slow cooker on auto when i'm cooking a stew. But whatever setting you put it on at it will be hot enough to serve after the required cooking time.

LOL Have you got a magic one, where you don't need ingredients...just the recipe will do. Cool, I want one!

Seriously, 10 hours is plenty and no, you don't need to turn it up before serving.

Yes, it will definitly be hot enough to serve. You will probably want to turn it down to "keep warm" before serving so that it's not too hot to eat.

Yes it will be planty hot. Usually the standard is 3 to four hours on high OR about eight on low.
