quark vs. illustrator?

why would someone create a poster in illustrator rather than quark when it's all text?

Maybe they dont have Quark is the most likely answer.
And let me guess, they probable dont know how to send you the fonts, or outline the fonts?

I see that all the time.
People will do page layout in Illustrator (wrong!).
And try to do vector images in Photoshop (wrong!).

Because they "think" they know what they are doing.
Unfortunately, now since everyone has a computer, everyone "thinks" they can be a designer.
Including Suzy Secretary, the bosses brothers kid, on down the line.
And they use everything from powerpoint, word, excel, publisher, (notice all these are Microsoft products, its because they suck for design work!).

Anyway, back to the question.....
People use whatever they have at hand, even if it doesnt make any sense.
