Yesterday I awoke with a headache and fatigue, after an entire night with the headache. As the day progressed, all my muscles started to ache and I had less and less energy. By evening I was shivering terribly and knew I had a fever. It was only 100, but by midnight it was 101.3. I took ibuprofen and went back to bed. I soon started sweating profusely and woke with normal temperature. I still have body aches, a runny nose, and I feel exhausted, but no fever. What would cause a sudden spike like that?

a short viral process...sometimes there's no reason for a fever to come and go quickly...when my daughter was an infant the ped would caqll it viral syndrome...just keep up on the fluids and use fever reducing meds as needed is basically what we do when this happens
