I'd like to run an idea by you and get some opinions. How would you feel about putting your daughter in a class, one on one, that would let her build her own doll house? The activities would be age appropriate. (not running saws or anything like that) One that let her pick out the design of the house, the wallpaper, the furniture, etc. The classes would take appox 10 days, 3-4 hours a day, you could schedule them any time or day, they don't have to be all together. What would you feel would be a fair price? Just want to know if you saw this kind of ad, how would you feel about it? Would you consider it? Do you think they would enjoy it? What ages do you think would like it most?

There would be no problem with the parent staying and helping if they liked. The age range was just an idea, I havea 4 yr old boy, and I know his attention span. :) The would not need to bring anything except maybe to wear old clothes, working with paint, glue, that kind of thing. This is something I'd like to start once my kids are in Kindergarden. Just trying to get some ideas and details worked out before hand. Any opinion or suggestions are appreciated.

The time was just an idea too, I haven't quite figured out how long it would take, for younger kids, I could have it put together, and let them do the decorating. That would cut down on the time. I have one right now built that is 7 rooms, front porch and balconey. The price could be adjusted depending on the size of the house, 4 rooms, etc...

I have a 6-year-old girl and I think she'd like to paint the exterior, decorate the interior, and pick out the furniture of the finished house. Any more than that (as far as building the entire dollhouse) I don't think she'd enjoy, unless it was building something small maybe to go inside. I guess if everything was made of wood, the price would have to be higher because the quality is better than the plastic ones at Toys'R'Us so maybe $150-$200 for 1-2 sessions that are under 2 hours with parent help. I don't think a one on one class is necessary and it'd be more difficult to find parents willing to leave their daughter with a stranger.

3-4 hours a day is too long in my opinion. I think it should be just one hour classes and I would charge a flat fee for a completed doll house as long as there is a minimum of a certain amount of classes as well as a maximum of course so it's worth doing for you..the teacher. My 8 year old would be interested in it. I think any little girl that loves crafts would be interested. I would think that if all materials were included...I think $150 would be fair for the classes and completed dollhouse to take home. With one hour classes, you can teach a few classes a day and maybe even have more then one child at a time.

I don't know. My oldest daughter is 7 and I'm very protective of her. I'd have to know someone that has had their child in this class or know of the teacher in some way. I definitely would have to check the place out, maybe stay if that made me feel more comfortable or in all honestly I'd probably join myself and my daughter so we could build a doll house in the same class just for a while to make sure I was comfortable enough with the teacher and others in the class. Some say it's too protective, I say, there's no such thing unless you are hindering them in a manner that doesn't let them grow in a healthy way.

Oh my gosh! How awesome - my 5 year old would love something like that! She would especially like the picking out of the design, wallpaper, furniture and everything.
I know I'm not a good judge of pricing things, but my closest guess would be $200-$250 -- I forgot to ask if the class bought materials or if the kids would be required to bring everything. If the class supplied it, then you could probably charge a bit more. I would definitely consider it - my thought on the ages would be 4-8.

3-4 hours a day for a four year old child is not realistic because their attention span is only good for about 15minutes.To be very honest 3-4 hours a day is not realistic for any child. If you wanted to do something like this you may want to consider doing it for 1 hour a day for 10 day's and you will probably want to do it with children that are about 10yrs old.As far as the price goes you need to figure out what the materials for this activity are going to cost and if you are looking to make a profit.

My daughter is six and loves to create and build things, so we would consider something like this for her if it wasn't too expensive. Classes like this usually run a few hundred dollars, we don't have that kind of money but if it were anywhere from $50-$100, I think we would let her do it.

i would say go for it as long as you are able to be with children under the age of like 6 or so. i would not pay for more than you know about 250 dollars because you have to take into consideration of the price of the materials for building the doll house and i think they would love it. i would say the most appropriate ages for this would be anywhere form 4 years to 6 years, depending on your child's personality and their liking to the dolls and doll houses, hope this helped, holly
