Grant people visas to enter legally and then monitor the same, someway, somehow (I'm thinking a tracking chip) to make sure that they leave when they say they will if they don't ask for an extension of time to stay.
In my opinion, when a person apply for a visa, they MUST say who or where they are staying. If you make that person or place in USA responsible to ensure the visitor or student leave, be sure there will be less people inclined to stay illegally because the relatives, school, place of work or whatever won't want to be on the bad side of the law.

Do away nationalism ( as if that will happen) As long as people have the erroneous ideal that "their" country is somehow or another better than another immigration will always be an issue. People like to give all these financial reasons why it is wrong when the the truth is, like so many other things it has to do with racism. I know I will hear about how wrong I am, but before anyone bothers, tell me, if you lived somewhere that you had a hard time financially taking care of your family, were not free to worship your religion, were persecuted , how many of you would not go. The only people that don't like immigration are those people that live in a country that allows them the freedoms they cherish, take those freedoms away and see how fast they would want out of dodge. Especially Americans ( and yes, I am an American) who complain, It boggles my mind as unless you are a native american where did your ancestors come from and why are they in America now???? Humans are humans and deserve to live on planet earth, wherever they might choose.

Enforce the existing immigration laws to apply to Mexico. They already apply to other Countries. Remove any illegals from this Country immediately.

Stop illegal immigration. Stop people from hiring them, giving them medical care, giving them and their kids public education. Cut the welfare off and when they are found deport them at their expense and if they don't have the money to pay take all of their belongings. It would make them decide that maybe breaking our laws is not profitable.
