Absolutely! Jerusalem being a holy city for Chrisitanity, Judaism and Islam is the best place to go to get the best of all cultures! There is no way you can appreciate Jerusalem in only one day. I have been there tens of times and still cannot get enough of it!

The old city is fantastic, with the Jewish, Muslim, Armenian and Christian quarters right next to each other...so many cutltures on such a tiny space!

The person who told you to be careful as a Christian or Muslim is wrong. This city is welcoming to all who enter it, just last Easter, I went with a very close Christian friend (shes been living here for a few years) to Jerusalem for Easter services at an amazing Catholic church (Im Jewish), after running around the Old City looking for a scarf, and stopping by the Church of the Holy Seplucher.

On our trip before that, we stayed in East Jerusalem and hung out with some Arab friends. I think my point is made.

As for transport, take the border crossing that runs through Eilat. Im sure Cairo offers busses, or flights to the area, North Eastern Sinai, Shar al Sheik etc.. Once in Eilat, get directions to the central bus station. You can also fly to the area. Just bear in mind that if, for some reason, you dont go directly to Jerusalem, like Tel Aviv or Haifa, you are only one and two hours respectively from Jerusalem. This is a tiny country!

There may be air transport to Tel Aviv from Cairo, but I am not sure...

Enjoy Egypt and Jerusalem!

I would go. Jerusalem is a beautiful place. I would however not recommend staying only one day if you would like to see everything. Plan on at least 2-3 days. You will be glad that you did. Check out the outdoor market in Old Jerusalem. Visit the religious sites. Talk to the locals, you will get an interesting perspective. Wishing you a fun and safe trip.

Yes you can if you want to.
Traveling from Egypt to Jerusalem is not a problem at all.
Egypt & Israel had an agreement.
Contact the Israeli Embassy and ask them about the procedures:
