optimistic. They obviously figure that revolution will bring about something better.

Otherwise they'd just sit around and wait for judgement day.

It depends on the revolutionary. If this individual has a positive or "optimistic" outlook on life and the purpose of the revolution itself, he/she will be successful. If the outlook is pessimistic, the revolution will fail.

I would say optimistic. If they want to overturn the status quo it's usually because they feel they can replace it with something better.
