Fishy smells are usually a sign of oil gland overproductions. This is caused by food, and sometimes over productions of certian hormones. Also if your dog is not spayed, it can mean she is having some discharge from the vulva. Anal glands too could be impacted. If she is scooting on her rear outdoors or carpeting alot this can be the sign of Anal Gland impaction. Bathing her in a oatmeal based or tea tree oil shampoo can help, Also clean her ears very well, beagles have floppy ears and cant get air down in there to dry out the canals. This can get a yeasty infection in there, clean them out with some witch hazel or a little tiny bit of peroxide on a cotton ball. Dont use alchol it drys out the ear. Giving her some Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or a raw egg on her food once a week will help her skin and coat so there isnt oil glands getting backed up with dead skin or plugged.

i depends on where the smell is. is the smell in the face? around the eyes? small dogs have eyes that water and when it waters too much it has a smell that stinks. the hair gets matted in the corners and needs to be cut out. but if u notice a sore or its coming from the butt then u need to go to the vet. if the smell is coming from the fir then u would use a douche on it. don't get it in the eyes. that's what i was told when my dog got too close to a skunk! phew wee! but what u do is rub it all over the fir and let it set for about half an hour. then u wash it off. then use some shampoo to make it smell better. repeat if needed. a douche has vinegar in it and kills bad odors. but a douche dose not have a strong amount of vinegar!

It could be lots of things. Where is it coming from? The ears?

I'm sure you have given him a GOOD bath. Be sure to use a good amount of shampoo and to get him really soapy, then rinse really, really well.

Check inside his ears. Are they clean? Discharge? Black stuff that looks like dirt could be mites. Easily treated with olive oil, look online..or at the vets who will charge more and you still have to treat the dog yourself.

Beagles often stink. I know there are lots who don't, but it's a fact in the case of many beagles. If it continues, have him checked out. It could even be the food you feed him. Check the ingredients. Be sure he is getting enough water.

anal glands have a very strong, very unpleasant fishy smell. if the odor seems to be coming from the backend area, then that is probably what it is. you can have them expressed by a vet or groomer. it might be worth having the vet take a look though, to make sure there isn't a more serious problem. good luck!

What type of food are you feeding her? Is she getting into something outside? After you give her a bath, does she smell the same? If these don't help i would seek the help from your Vet!! I hope this helps!!

my female dog is a hound too and she is having the same problem, people just keep telling me that its her anal glands, but i think its more than that, it couldnt be an infection bc she isnt having any other signs, it may be just the way hounds smell, we buy her this special dog shampoo for hounds, and it helps pretty good, you can get it at petsmart

Sounds like she needs a good bath. If that doesn't work, call your vet.
