It depends on how far the bus stop is away from your house and if you think your child can handle the responsibilities that come with walking home alone.

When I was 8 I walked home from school alone. In this day and age with all of the psych pedifiles, There is no way on this earth I would let my child walk home from the bus stop alone!

It depends how far away from your house the bus stop is. I would say 2 blocks would be a good safe distance to walk home alone. Anymore than that at that age and it might be risky.

Personally, I wouldn't let me 7 year old walk home alone. Especially with all the pedophiles/child molesters these days. Most kidnappings happen close to home too.
However a lot of people feel fine with it, especially if they are not walking that far. I guess it depends on how comfortable and safe you feel about it.

Maybe just a couple of blocks. When I was 4 I would walk to school about 5 blocks with just 1 or 2 friends of the same age. That however was before all the pieces of shi! were out here. A few blocks should be no prob.

My son is 6 1/2 and he walks to my neighbor's to catch the bus. I let him walk it alone but I watch him the whole time; it isn't far and there isn't traffic on our road. When the weather is bad, I walk over with him though. It really depends on the distance, the neighborhood and how much traffic is in the area.

More than the neighborhood, the people, the traffic, etc etc etc it all depends on how you feel about it. Do you feel ok letting your 7 year old walk to a different section of a grocery store to get you jam while you're in the fruit department?
7 is NEVER always 7 - it totally depends on your child!

Yeah. I think so because when we was coming up it was a lot different. If you have your child walk alone at least have them walk with a friend that way it is more safer and it depends how far the walk is

Yes! How far is the bus stop? Is the problem that you don't want to walk it? My son is 8 and I walk him to and from school EVERY day. Nobody is going to hurt my child.

i grew to become into 13, inspite of the incontrovertible fact that I have been given the bus residing house from college & then had a fifteen-minute walk on my own after that. i might say 11 (commencing up of secondary college) is a competent age in case you reside a together as away, yet while he's strolling with a chum, you reside decrease than 5 minutes' walk away & he obeys your regulations....i do no longer see why no longer! this is as much as you - you are the mum and you be attentive to your son, in case you think of he's to blame adequate then you definately ought to enable him. Congratulations on your new infant btw (:
