I have looked at some light boxes but I cannot afford them. Does anyone know of some similar products that are under $100? I heard about a visor that some people use for this. Please help, I get so depressed in the winter that I can barely function. Only on sunny days can I manage to get things done.

When we lived in Minnesota, I had trouble with SAD during the long winters. At that time I managed a Mental Health Clinic, and one of the Docs suggested that I put GRO-lights, not just plain florescent in my kitchen. I also added a grow light for reading in the living room and bedroom. It really worked. The bulbs aren't cheap...but cheaper than the fancy appliances available. Good luck to you. It WORKED for me. Hugs and Good Luck, Gina C.
p.s. Had fantastic plants too(%

Talk to a medical doctor. Depression is depression; some people say the season affects it, others say the season doesn't make any difference. I think getting medication from a doctor is going to be more reliable than lamps or tanning beds.

You could try tanning beds. They have the same ultraviolet rays as the light boxes and you could just pay as you go $4 or $5 a tan.
