Some people say there shouldn't be female vicars so our marriage is not a 'real' one recognised by the church. Should I get it blessed by a male vicar?

Hello all, thanks for replying. As far as we are concerned, we're married, and the vicar has been given the power to marry us 'cos she's ordained (in the Church of England). But it's other people who seem to question it and who say it's not a real marriage and it's quite upsetting!

David M : Take your poisonous comments elsewhere. I think you have missed the point of the question - I know I am LEGALLY married, I am talking about the spiritual side. Take an anger management course - if you get this upset about my question, wait til you read some of the others on this site - I'd call the ambulance now if I was you. Have a good evening.

Yes, you are married.
First of all, legally every person conducting a marriage in the UK must be a registrar. The spiritual side of the marriage is another matter entirely, one that is frankly the problem of people who refuse to accept female priests. But legally you are married just as much as if the vicar had been male. Just as long as the celebrant is a registrar, that's all that's needed for the marriage to be valid.
The deity is neither male nor female but both and neither, if you get my drift. People who have problems with female clergy usually have problems with women being anything other than subservient doormats; don't listen to anything they say. The Church of England took a decision over ten years ago to ordain women; those who disagreed are entitled to their opinion but it was a majority decision and they should stop being so bigotted and grow up

This is the first time I am hearing about a female vicar giving marriage. Isnt it fantastic? If she is a vicar, does'nt she have the power to get marriage conducted? If the church has made her a vicar, why is it not recognised by the church? Enjoy your married life. Marriage needs two people, man and woman all others are imaginery and not needed at all

Some Christian denominations will not accept women as priests. Full stop. To answer your question, You married your partner, the vicar (male or female) performed the sacrament. Your marriage is legal in the eyes of the Law and of the Church of England.

If you are a Christian, and you are married by man's law, then you are married according to God. It doesn't matter by what or whom you were married, by God you ARE married. You can ask that someone pray for blessings on your marriage (anyone can pray for you in that sense). Getting a "special blessing" by anyone of any title will not help you in any way, as far as God is concerned.

If your papers are real and you are married to the opposite sex, then you are married according to God.

Who cares what the church, or "some people" think? It's what God thinks that counts.

If you have satisfied the lawful requirements of the country to recognise it as a marriage so it is regarded as a marriage. You yourself intend it as a marriage. What more do you want?

Is God going to interfere with that? Hardly.

you called her a vicar; meaning she has been authorized to conduct these kinds of ceremonies.

Are you serious?

If you're that ignorant I (almost) feel sorry for the unfortunate sucker who married you.

Please, please, don't have any children. There are enough idiots on this planet already, we don't need any more of them.
