seen on tv where a father needed a liver trans. the son was a match. the sons liver was cut in two and half given to the father. they said the liver will regenerate to normal size /function for the father and the son. was i just hearing things or is this possible?

Yes, this is true. It's called a live liver donor transplant (LDLT). A healthy liver will regenerate itself, but a liver that is damaged from a virus such as Hepatitis B or C, or damaged from alcoholism is too scarred to regenerate. When a healthy portion of a donor liver is grafted to the veins & arteries, it will continue to grow & regenerate until it replaces the diseased organ.
