Well, i am an experienced Guide Dog handler and can tell you that these dogs do not get enough credit for the hard work they do for their owners.
One guide dog i know, knows the journey home from his owners work and touches his owners knee when they get to their stop, the dog was never trained to do this!
They can also be guard dogs, especially when they are out working at night, if someone stops to chat to their owners they tend to stand in the middle to protect them, again it is just devotion and also the fact that they can sense that there is something wrong with their owner.
There are loads of other reasons why guide dogs are special, too many to mention! just spending a day watching them with their owners you can see it straight away.

guide dogs are soo special because they are the eyes of a blind person, it gives a blind person the chance to carry life on as normal as possibe, they are very clever dogs, The reason guide dogs know where they're going to the right place is because they count how many kerbs they go , up and down, and how many paces, and they are such loyal animals,
They're our confidants. Walking partners. They fetch our newspapers without being asked. But what if our lives depended on them every single day? This is what it means for a person to have a Guide Dog. And it may be the best example yet of the symbiotic relationship between humans and dogs. they are very good company for one another and create a unique bond

They are so special because they can change the life of a blind person totally. They can turn a shut-in into a person who now has the ability to safely navigate the world. They can change a life completely. The companionship for someone who may have been without can be an amazing change in itself. I have a disease which will eventually put me in a wheelchair. My own dog does so, so much for me. She will bring me anything that I have taught her the word for, phone, towel, flashlightetc. I am now unable to train any further. I am very much hoping that as this progresses I will be able to obtain canine help. They are indeed real special. Any form of canine help is priceless when your on the needing end believe me.

because they act as eyes for blind people..... I live in D.C. so I see at least a couple guide dogs every day. They are VERY well trained, the kind of training that takes years! They know when to stop for traffic, when it's ok to walk in cross-walks, etc. I even saw a guide-dog lead its owner into a line to wait for taxis today.
