My lab broke his toenail. Actually his dew claw. Anyways, it didn't break all the way through and is still attached. It is broken close to the skin and is causing him pain. What should I do?

If its causing him pain why are you wasting time asking people on Yahoo answers? You should be taking him to the vet!

My dog broke his dew claw and the vet had to cut it down right to the skin, past the point of where it broke. It could get infected if you don't care for it properly. It didn't cost that much to bring him.

i had a dog that did that ! i called my vet and they told me there will be pain for a couple of days. that's normal. just like if u brOKe a nail. they advised me to keep it clean and not let them chew on it any more. licking is ok! but if the pain don't go away after like a week or its really red for a while. then the dog needs to go to the vet.
