I can hear my neighbour's alarm clock in my bedroom, and it wakes me up.

I want to fit some sound insulation to the wall, (which I think is plasterboard surface) losing as little space as possible.

Has anyone tried the Heavy density slab insulation from Wickes? Did it work?

Or has anyone tried any of the Heavy density barrier sheets that can be bought online?

Thanks

i had the same problem ..but as a builder i knew what to do the type of slab you need is a rockwall type slab..these are heavy and very dense ....first you need metal wall framing .. this is readily available and is instead of wood ...wood transmits sound too easily you fix one to floor ..one either end of wall...one to ceiling and infill every 400 mm ...you will now have a metal framed wall .infill in between these upright studs ...making sure you fill EVERY GAP ..don't leave a single gap ..then with drywall screws fix plaster boards to metal studs..then either plaster boards or scrim and treat as dry lining

I'd hang a tapestry on the wall, or if you can't afford it, some carpet. Don't buy new carpet, just find some that doesn't smell. It worked for me when I was in an apartment.
