I'm getting married this year and my mother is my matron of honor. I've had several people tell me it's not right, or it's just weird, but I don't care what anyone thinks. She is my best friend, always has been, and there is no one else I would rather have help me plan it, and certainly no one else I would rather have standing beside me on that day. I say if that's what you want and what she wants, go for it! It's your day, not anyone elses!

I guess there is no rule book that says she cant… but…. One thing you should consider… the biggest thing I remember about my wedding is how my mother was being the MOTHER OF THE BRIDE... it was so beautiful seeing how proud she was… how honored she was…. Being the mother of the bride is a very very very special thing… I guess what you should do is ask your mom how she would feel about it... For if she was to be your maid of honor the mother of the bride role would be totally different for her. I have a very close relationship with my daughter and I have to admit I would not give up the mother of the bride role for all the tea in china… when the time comes that is lol. I wash you the best!

Of course...if you feel if she is your best friend and so on...
it doesnt matter who it is ...it matters if they will honor the position and if they honor you adn you honor them...
