Depends on where you live. In America, it is the left hand. The engagement ring before the ceremony. Then the wedding band is put on the same finger.

The tradition was started in Greece. The left hand is the same side as the heart and the ring finger is considered to have veins that lead straight to the heart.

In many areas of Europe, they wear both the engagement and the wedding band on the right hand.

Depends. Orthodox Christians and Jews wear it on the right hand, as do most non-Orthodox Greeks and Eastern Europeans. Roman Catholics wear it on the left, except in Germany, Spain, Austria, Venezuela, Chile and others. Protestants tend to wear it on the left as well, except in Holland and a few other countries.

Generall, Orthodox Christian or Jew = Right hand. Roman Catholic and Protestant = Left hand.
