Go with a creamy yellow. It will tie everything together....creamy very light. Pick a floral...for the drapes....I love shades with toppers; scarfs. Good luck. check out and watch HGTV.com

Personally I would go with something either a shade darker than what is in the rug or a shade lighter. If you have a lot of natural light in that room go darker to even it out, so it doesn't look washed. If you don't have a lot of light, I would go a sahde lighter to brighten it.
If you wan to keep with the green and cream I would go with cream wall, green lace curtains to tie it all together. Make sure so carry the theme all the way through the room, keeping mind not to over do it. Get a couple of pieces of art or make them yourself, that green and cream are your accent colors. to brighten the room and add color. Or even using photographs in frames, you can make a focal point.

You didn't say what colors your furniture is. I wouldn't overdo to greens as they can be overwelming. I would paint the walls in either a warm cream or maybe a honey color. Curtains in a darker green from the rug would be nice if it is a large window that is left open or with cream colored sheers. If it is a small window I would choose a lighter green. Maybe a nice stripe in greens and cream if you don't have to many other prints in the room.

If you go with a dark color it the room will appear smaller, Look at your rug choose the lightest green color if you want to stay with that. Other wise without seeing the colors you have in the rug it is hard to say which color goes with it. With Green you can use Yellows, blues Reds and even oranges but there are so many shades of green so it is hard for me to tell you what will go with it unless I see the rug....

Much depends on your style and what makes your heart sing! I picture this rug with apricot walls, bamboo shades, and a pretty paisley fabric that picks up all the colors, maybe 2 or 3 other fabrics too. Love the room you're in!

Which shades of green? Are we talking lime green or gray green?

From the sounds of it, I would suggest going with some earth tones, like maybe a nice tan color for the walls, and then you can brighten it us with a rust color for the curtains.

If you want a bolder look, you could go dark brown for the walls, and use cream for the curtains, and a cream color trim.

Wal Mart has a wonderful paint color called "Suede". I had the same color combo in my den and that worked wonderfully!!!! I'm not sure the brand but all their paint swatches are together, at least in our Wal-Mart.
