Depending on when she's turning 18, you could make a move. I mean, if she's going to be 18 in the next 2 months, make a move. If she's not 18 for 4 or more months, stay friends and make a move later.
It also depends on if her parents like you.
If you like this girl, talk with her about what she would do if you asked her out, kissed her, etc.
Find out if she feels the same way before you make a big move.

well im 17 and im going out with a 19 year old soon to be 20 and to us age is nothing. Although we did get to know each other very well before becoming a couple. So maybe u and her should become close before considering to make the move. And you should probably meet with her parents so they could get to know you and see that youre not in this to hurt there little girl but to show and give her plenty of respect. Thats what we did with my parents and they were pretty kool with things. However if ur lookin at this as a hit it and quit it then maybe u should wait it out tell shes 18 that way u wont have to worry as much about any of "those" types of problems to occure.

The problem is the law. There are married couples with the husband listed as a sex offender b/c they didn't wait until they married or the bride was legal. The laws are imperfect. If all parents put forth the appropriate amount of effort such laws would be unnecessary, but they exist and you have to deal with them.

If you've a crush on a seventeen year old, then you're probably mentally seventeen yourself. There's nothing wrong with that, if you intend to do the right things. Those things are not trying to get in her pants before you're both old enough to make good decisions about marriage and the possibility of parenthood.

It all depends on what her families values are. If you seriously want this to work then you need to become a friend to her first. Think outside of the bed and more on friendship and getting to know her well. Hold off on really trying to date her while she's still 17 even if her parents act like it's ok. They can act like it's ok and the first time you do something they don't like even if she's turned 18 but it started when she was 17 you're looking at courts and jail. Trust me, you can wait until she's of legal age.

If that's how you feel, go over and talk to her. Sometimes, it's better to love from afar, but in your case, I think you should at least try talking to her first. Get to know her better, and let her get to know you a little better. Try and become one of her closest friends. Protect her, and become her guardian. Become her pillar of support. If she seems interested, try labeling one of your "outings" with her as a "date", then later, ask her how she felt about it. As for her parents, well, until you meet with them face to face, they're not going to know what you're like, now, are they?

PS The whole age gap thing is blown out of proportion. My own parents are 8 years apart, and the parents of an old acquaintance are 11 years apart. If you're really serious about it, you probably won't even be able to tell her your feelings for at least another year, anyway, so why are you worried?

Hold on to your britches, dear.
I would most definatley wait until she is of legal age. Why?

A few reasons:
At 17, her parents are still legally responsible for her behavior. If something happens that Daddy doesn't like, he could put you away, whether Princess likes it or not.
Another, if something should happen and the relationship doesn't work out, she can pull out the "I was a minor" card. And even if you break up when she's 18...she still has up to FOUR YEARS to legally use it against you!
Be smart...you really like her? Do you BOTH a favor and protect yourselves from a future painful situation. Just wait.

Go for it! I went out with a 24 year old when i was 15, yes i know it sounds bad but he didnt take advantage of me or anything and i was very mature for my age. 3 years is nothing. She's over 16. I suppose it depends where you come from though. You're probably better off waiting until she's above the age of consent in your country.

As hopek2006 has already mentioned it's a very dangerous area to be treading.

I know of a man who was charged with being with a minor even though she lied about her age to him. It has ruined his chances for a career. All for a woman that he dated years ago. You don't want to explain why you have criminal charges to future employers, especially that type of a charge.

You'll meet a lot of women during your life, if she is really the one a year is not a long time to wait.

If your thinkin bout just bangin her, wait till she's 18, but if your just trying to get to know her, the age doesn't make a dfifernece. what matters is how comfortable you are (and she is) about the difference. I'm 17 dating a 20 year old, and we have no problems with our age, because it doesnt matter to us. But if it matters to you or her, that itself can cause problems. But in the end, unless we're talking bout sex, age is just a number.

No, it's not ok. You could be charged with statuatory rape unless the laws in that area have the age of consent lower.

If you get charged with being with a minor, even if she's almost 18, you could literally be listed as a sex offender.

Better keep it safe and wait until she turns 18.
