The first thing I would do with a million dollars that you just gave me is put it in the bank, so it could earn interest while I was making plans on how to use it.

Thank you so much! I can't accept it unless I know you way better, and am sure you can afford to do this, and are being generous, & not adding to my debts! If you're OK with it, & really meant that:
I'll pay off my mortgage, my sisters' also.
I'd help out some friends who really need it, and set up a taxi account for a neighbour who can't afford to get out much.
(Too old to drive, no bus route nearby). I'd take a short holiday in Europe.
Then I'd talk to a consultant about how to make sure that charities get what I owe in tax, instead of letting the government have their share! Oh, should have done that first! But you've pre-paid my gift-tax for me, right?

I will make an appointment with an investment counselor to decide the best way to invest my money.
I will pay off bills, my house, etc. (also home improvements!)
I will set up trusts for nieces and nephews.
I will set up long term care for my husband and I.
Take a few trips. I haven't been on a vacation in years.
I will work with my investment counselor to find the best
charitable organizations. I will probably set up some type of foundation to keep others from asking for $.
That's about it.....
Oh, yeah- and include you in the naming of the trust and a great big thank you!

Well the first thing I would do , is sit down and write you out a Thank you.. because hell, you just gave one million dollars, it would be the least I could do.
Now as far as the money.. The very first thing I would do, is pay for my parents a headstone.. There is no marker for their grave because there was no money to pay for it.
Then the second thing I would do, is pay everyone I owe money to back.. they were there for me when I needed them, and I have never been able to pay them back.
After that, who knows.. perhaps Cancer research.
Oh, and BTW.. thanks again

is this money under the table or is the government supposed to know about it?
well I'd give some to my church either way, pay my student loan off, buy my mom a house, buy my dad a car, start a program for youth to encourage self esteem and keep them off the streets and stop them from getting into trouble, and save the rest.

Take out what I'd owe for taxes. Then pay off my house. Then take our families on an awesome trip. After that there really wouldn't be much left (taxes would be $200,00 alone!). The rest would go into a savings for a rainy day.

First I would get my four kids and I into a home that we all fit into comfortably. Then I would open an account just for their continued education through college. I would invest enough into my fathers' home improvement business so that he could retire(he's in his 60s) while I take a few business courses. I would donate a LARGE sum to a charity that helps downtrodden women and children. Then, I would take my mom,(she just lost her dad) sisters, & eldest daughters to NY for a much needed (&dreamt about)vacation.

Buy a large farm and take in abandoned and unwanted animals of all species.
It would have a couple of separate houses on it for myself and my family. Nothing too flash. I would save the rest of the money for funding staff and looking after the animals well.
