my friend is 19, since the time he was 15 he has had a large adams apple and it stuck out protrusely, but over the last couple months he has put on weight around his cheeks and neck and the adams apple doesnt stick out as much. why is this? isnt the adams apple the same size it has always been regardless of how much weight he has put on? how come it doesnt stick out as much?

Because he has put on more weight, his adams apple is become hidden under all the fatty tissue. The adams apple is still the same size as it's always been. Short, sweet, and to the point, although the first two answers explained it better. God Bless

if he is putting on weight..the Adams apple is being surrounded by fatty tissue so its not protruding as much. The Adams apple is not fatty tissue..sort of like a joint or maybe your collar bone..if there is more fat around it..its softer also.

He's got a fatter neck. The adam's apple is in the same place, it just has more fat to poke through.
