it depends on your level of committment. you have to think of it as a job, and shop around for the best fit. i am a busy student, so weekends are the only time for me to volunteer. i might be sacrificing some time with friends, but i think its enjoyable, and one to two hours on a saturday morning is easy to do! also, do something that is low-maintenance at first, and then gradually let yourself be more responsible. above all, have fun, and go there with a good attitude! you will be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment, and its eye-opening as well! have fun!

Very easy. Here are some ideas:
If you have five minutes a day, you can call an elderly person just to check on them.
If you only have an hour every once in a while, you can go to a nursing home or VA hospital and visit people. Or, you can give blood if you're able.
If you only have an occasional afternoon on a weekend, and you have kids, you can help clean an elderly person's home. Or you could go to a messy neighborhood and pick up trash.
If you are single and like meeting people, you can find groups that get single volunteers together to clean trash from roads or beaches and meet people while volunteering.
There are a lot of things you can do at anytime.

It depends what kind of volunteering you want to do. If you have your mind set on a specific thing you want to do, you might find it hard and have to change it to something else. But there will be something that can fit easily into your lifestyle, even if it's not your first choice. Have fun!

It can be easy to fit but then every so often you feel a bit like it is taking over your life! However it all depends on what you volunteer for, your lifestyle and what level of involvement you have.

Very, as long as you figure out what kind of commitment you're interested in making and find something that matches that. There are also one-shot events in case you can't commit much time or far in advance, and there is also volunteering in ways are are less time-sensitive. You may want to go to a United Way Voluntary Action Center to find a good match. Good luck!

very easy because even if you dont volunteer for an organisation you can volunteer anytime know an old lady who has a hard time getting around mow her lawn rake it or shovel it depending on the season offer to babysit for a single parent etc. Its still helping the world be a better place even if its not at a retirment home or a animal shelter your still helping someone out!

I don't think it's easy at all - it goes against human nature to do something for nothing.
The whole point about volunteering is that it's a sacrifice. But the rewards are worth it.
Like anything though, once you get used to it and you are committed to it, it just becomes a part of your life and you don't know any different. Often the hard part of anything is just the change in routine.

I've found it to be pretty easy. I've joined the Royal British Legion and I go to one meeting a month, except for November and a few other occasions in the year, where I give most of a weekend or three and a few evenings for them. In total, it's not too much to ask and it gives me a feeling of content inside.
I think more people should be involved in charities
The trick is to not volunteer too much. I did this at work before and ended up having three secondary duties (I couldn't say "no"). I ended up getting swamped and gave one of them up after trying to do it well, but doing it badly.

you have to want to do it, find some type of volunteering that's meaningful to you, and then be committed to it. How it fits into your life is up to you as to when you can make time for it. Hot it fits into your lifestyle is another question, and you can either donate by you being there in person, or by donating physical objects (such as specific books that you know would be helpful or equipment, or foodstuffs or even toilet paper or diapers) whether they are discards because you can't use them anymore or by buying them in bulk and getting a discount then donating them, and by donating by means of cash. (never use a credit card for this purpose).

There are plenty of different volunteering opportunities out there, so you should be able to find one that fits for you. See:
