I've got a burmese- she was 14 on saturday and cuter than she's ever been!! I've had her since I was 7, and she is so affectionate, much more so than other breeds. The only thing is she gets very jealous when the attention's not on her, and will miaow and miaow until she gets attention. She tends to follow us anywhere around the house, and down the road, much like a dog but much cuter and less smelly!!!

We have had seven Burmese cats, and they have all been very affectionate and friendly. Yes, they can be very vocal and demanding, but that is part of the charm. They are lovable hooligans that never seem to grow up, and at sixteen or seventeen years of age will still play like kittens. For maximum enjoyment two cats is good, but three cats are better!

>>i would like to answer but i dont know what a bermese cat looks like lol

I just ran a quick search to make sure I was thinking of the right kitty. A lot of modern Burmese cats look a lot like Siamese in coloring, but they have satiny coats. And apparently these kitties love attention. So they're going to talk to you a lot!

I think that if I were to look for a specific breed of cat, I would like a Burmese.

I totally agree!! I have 3 daughters and got a blue male burmese cat for one of them for her birthday, he was like a parrot, a permenant fixture on my shoulder, loved to be cuddled and played with, and so come another daughters birthday another bermese came along! this time a female blue, a companion for the male. i could not leave my remaining daughter out and, my hubby thought i deserved one as well and so we now have a chocolate male and a lillac male burmese as well, the 4 of them play beautifully together and are all full of character and very loving and we would not be without them (even when we cant stretch out our legs in bed because they are all huddled together at the bottom!)

Yep, We used to have a chocolate and lilac (brown all over, not just brown tips). The chocolate one was very bold but the white one was quite timid, at that time we also had a huge feral cat pet (one of the nicest but streetwise and huge, bigger than small dogs). He used to catch river rats and bring them up for the kittens. The kittens were about half the size of the rats, and one time he brought back a live one and the brown kitten jumped on its back. It was a horrible sound with the rat squealing running around outside the house with the little brown kitten on its back very determined and all claws and teeth. The white one didnt know what to do and was just running up and down the stairs between us and the rat. Those two disappeared one day, we never found out what happened to them. I suspect our neighbor did something, he hated cats. But they might have been catnapped because burmese are expensive. My mum now has a grey one that is a menace! Whenever I visit her I play with the cat, but it gets grumpy after a while and starts getting violent (it doesn't like losing). You know when they sit and tuck all 4 paws in (we call it hambergering, cause she looks like a little cat hamburger). I like just very gently tipping the poor cat over, it gets grumpy but is too lazy to get up. She plays hide and seek. She will sit outside a room until you call her in then she will look for you and she knows you are hiding from her. If I chase her down the hallway, she will dart away then regroup somewhere, fluff up and chase me back down it. It is impossible to change bed sheets when the cat is around too, because she gets under the fitted sheet and slides around under there like a ferret. and ANYTHING that goes near the grey blur under the sheet gets attacked. I really like burmese. [edit: the Greys name is "Minty" too, But spelled Mynte or Myntie]

My mum had a burneser cat for many years, he was so so soft and loving, he loved to sleep in bed with her and even went out in the car! He would sit with his paws in the dash and look out the window! he was very vocal but also suffered with eczma on his back so do keep an eye on that. Enjoy him/her!
