Manchuria (Manchu: Manju, Simplified Chinese: 满洲; Traditional Chinese: 滿洲.

Manchuria is a translation of the Manchurian word Manju (Chinese Mǎnzhōu). After the 1911 revolution in China, which resulted in the collapse of the Manchu's Qing Dynasty, the name of the region where the Manchus originated, Manju or Manchuria, was replaced by the Northeast in official documents.

Manchuria is the traditional homeland of the Xianbei, Khitan, and Jurchen peoples, who built several dynasties within both Manchuria and China. The region is also the home of the Manchu, after whom the region is named. In the 17th century, the Manchu conquered and ruled China until the collapse of the Qing Dynasty in 1911.
