I HATE St. Valentine's Day. I really really do. I think that it is just one of those days where you can swerve off your diet to eat chocolate until your sick...kinda like St. Patty's day without the drinking. Or a couple having sex until neither can move. It's just another one of those Hallmark holiday's that you have to have someone special in order to celebrate. Well what if we don't have someone special or if we always get broken up with right around then? What day is there for us lonely single people in the world? Sure when I was little my parents used to buy my sister and I stuff for V-day, but now it has no meaning. Don't you couples get your anniverseries to celebrate sex and candy and dimonds on???

Thanks for all the respones. It was my own mother that told me that. Out of all my friends, I only have 2 that are single and you guys just gave me an idea: I think I'll call em up and go rent a bunch of old black and white romances and eat a crap ton of popcorn (it just happens to be air-popped so it's go for us no matter what). Thanks for all the responses.

You're dead on. Valentine's Day is just 24 hours of pro-couplehood propaganda masquerading as love. It's nice to see that someone else understands. You get the Rio Madeira Seal of Approval!

I understand where you're coming from. When I was single I hated Valentines Day, too. Even now, though, I think too much pressure is put on people of both sexes to "come through" on V Day. I guess most of the pressure is on us guys to do the right thing, get the right card, etc. What about the rest of the year though. I think there is too much emphasis put on that one particular day. I would rather surprise my girl with a little happy or a card just because.....not because it's the day I'm supposed to do it. I think V Day is one of the only days that guys do anything romantic for their girls and that's not right either. Hey, if you are single this V Day, why not do something special for yourself? You don't have to wait for someone else to treat you good. Treat yourself!

Why not consider it a day of love? That is what Valentine's Day is all about love. What about self love, you certainly don't need a partner for that now do you?
I don't each chocolate on Valentine's day and I also don't drink on St. Patrick's Day. I do have a partner and we hardly ever do anything special for Valentine's day. We usually buy eachother a card and say Happy Valentine;s day and that is it. The over commercialized holidays are made that way by people who have nothing better to do.
Instead of getting caught up in it all try coming up with a way to not get caught up in it all by staying home and watching re-runs.

It is normal. I'm not too crazy about Valentine's Day either but I have definetly liked lots of guys before. I kind-of agree with you on the Hallmark holiday and an excuse to eat chocolate and have sex thogh.

Trauma in life can cause someone to have no feeling. There are many holidays that I have no feeling for. I'd had serious trauma in my life and their are times I too have no feeling. I've lived alone all my adult life. But life go one. Try to understand the people around you and make the most of the day. Think of things that can get your mind off the day. I do a lot of prayer and meditate. Or get involved in your hobbies that day.

If you hate the day, then just stay at home and relax. You're not the only one without any dates or in a relationship. Valentine's day is just really a day, like any other patron saint's day. Go to mass and just go on with the day until tomorrow comes.

dont be so hard on yourself. No doubt you see lots of couples celebrating on valentine's day but still if you have a group of close buddies for the rest of the other days within the year, that is something to be happy and celebrate about! Rather than going through the flow with everyone celebrating cos its a day to, treat yourself with something nice like a massage, etc. I think for couples who are in conflict and are going to go through the motion of celebrating, it paints a pretty grim picture to remind them of their plight. so be happy!!
