I suspect you are talking about the belt you have on your waist on top of your clothing. Etiquette says you should probably do that in the bathroom, but if your belt is going to split then doing it in a manner that is not obvious (don't make a big deal about it or ask your friends if it's ok or not) then you're ok doing that in public. If that is an under the panty belt then that is reserved for fixing in the bathroom only. No it's not a sexy thing but if any guy thinks it is then it's their problem and not yours so ignore them.

I would have to say if you had done it discreetly it would not have been but apparently that was not the case or it would not have drawn the attention of so many people and your need to ask this question. Perhaps the next time you will want to be a bit more discreet or attempt to eat less.

Since the guy said you looked sexy while doing that, then in singapore's society some people avoid doing stuff that doesn't look proper-even if you're not exposing anything. i think i will go 'eh?' when i see someone doing tht, but that's just cuz the person look like she's embarassing herself, not that it's really rude or anything.

I don't think it is polite to adjust clothing or apply make-up in public but etiquette seems to have gone out the window. I would think that you may have opened your self up to criticism by doing this in public when it would only have taken you a few minutes to excuse yourself and go to the washroom.

that may not rude in any respect, presented you probably did not could unbutton your pants or take your blouse off or something. in reality, you have been doing those around you a provider by tightening your belt; your pants could have slipped and uncovered you indecently in case you hadn't! do not difficulty approximately your persons, they have been overreacting.

Think of it this way: If it’s something your grandparents would not be caught dead doing in public, then it’s probably rude. Folks of that era had *much* better manners than people today do.

It is bad etiquette to do it in tne public . More it depends the kind of party u r in. In formal parties we should not do like that. If it is better to look sexy in the party than GO AHEAD

I can't believe anyone was so anal as to pull you up for loosening your belt. Thats just ridiculous and as far as I'm concerned you were not being rude at all.

It depends who's around you and where you are. Most people don't care but some people do.

I would consult Martha Stewart's new etiquette book. It would say what is appropriate.
