Yeah I'm sure this question has appeared many times. Well for me, the bible hasn't been proven false. I don't believe in creationism young earth stuff. While I accept evolution I'm not hip to natural selection.

Granted some things may not have been proven to happen, yet they haven't been proven not to have happened either.

So the evidence of truth is based on faith. That is, my evidence is personal to me and only to me. Until something that happens that undermines that it is the way it is.

With that said, what makes the bible untrue to you?

Set aside all the crazy doctrine and base your answer on pure fact only. So don't say the bible is false because the world is millions of years old... the bible doesn't state the age of the earth.

If it contradicts itselft, post the contradiction so I can study it. But post a real contradiction and not a mistranslation.

There are whole sites dedicated to biblical history. Josephus and others attest to some biblical events as having truth.

However, that gets sparse as to you go back further in the past.

http://www.biblehistory.net/ - one of many.

I like the way you think, and I agree with you completely. It certainly makes more sense to believe that God created the universe than to think it came out of nowhere, however the theory is phrased.
All through our known history, there has been some sort of religion...that is, every culture we know about has had some form of worship.
Mankind has always been reaching out for the God he instinctively knows is out there, somewhere.
In Jesus Christ, reaches down to mankind.
God bless you....

Thank you a valid question that wants to know someone elses point of view. (have you seen why do all liberals hate christians, why do all liberals tolerate mulims and not christians, why do you all want to go to hell by believeing in evolution ect, ect, ect,)

I like you believe that truth is based on faith, however I also believe that truth is different for every individual. What each person needs to fulfill personal and spiritual growth and discovery is different for them and often at different times in their life too.

I'm not into bible contradictions either, i'm not trying to prove that you are right or i am right I am trying to prove that we are different. What I think is brilliant is that you are passionate about something while being able to accept that not everyone will agree with you. A lot wont agree that the bible doesnt state the age of the earth or that you have come to fully know god because of the fact that you believe in evolution.

What makes the bible untrue for me is my own inner feelings, the answers I have come to when meditating and originally when praying. The other spiritual experiences that I have had and just somethng special that rests within my soul that seems to tie me into a pagan path. I cant explain it it runs deep and it pulls at me very strongly, I have a need to explore it and to discover who and what I am though it That is something I cant and dont need to provide proof of to anyone but me.

I hope you feels this answers the question and doesnt go off on too much of a tangent. Good luck with your attitude please post more often.

You realize that any contradiction is relative to the person interpreting it. The entire book can be considered a contradiction, if you are of the opinion that you must see to believe. It is the same with any history book. You either take it at face value, delve deeper and find personal meaning, or dismiss it. I challenge you to find someone who CAN'T find a contradiction in the Bible. I know devout Christians who find them, yet accept them as mis-communication, incomplete records, etc. It is all relative.

Yeah it`s a real shame that others beside Josephus didn`t record more about these events but then before this oral teaching was still very prevalent, the Bible contains Gods revealed truth and also some verifiable historical truths as well.
