Do you have any sunflower seeds, preferably the non-salt variety? It's ok if they're still in the shell. If it has to be the salted variety because that's all you have access to, that's ok. Bad food isn't worse than no food.

You might have some trouble getting him to eat, or drink. But leave it for him so that he has access even when you're not around. With the water, don't leave a lot, leave enough that if he ended up face first in it and he couldn't move that he could at least maneuver himsel so that he's not fully submerged in it.

If you call your local humane society, they'll know who the local wildlife rehabilitation people are. If you get ahold of them, they'll either come get the bird or you can take it to them and then they'll handle all the major care. Do that quick, because a bird in as much shock as your guy is in could die from that a lone, much less the injury.

You need to get it to a wildlife rehabber ASAP, mending an injured leg is not easy and if done improperly will doom the bird, but most importantly right now the bird is in a great deal of pain and there's nothing you can do about that but a rehabber can. For now put the bird in a box and avoid peeking inside/ hugging/petting the bird, as far as it's concerned you want to deep fry it, which is very stressful.

Hi there. It depends upon the type of bird and its age.You really can give it hand feeding formula even if it is older for the extra protein and nutrients for healing. Feed the bird with a syringe or small spoon. The leg needs to be put into alignment and stabilized in its position of function. Compare its position with the normal leg. If it is an open fracture, where the skin is torn and there is bleeding, this is more severe due to the possibility of infection. You can cut up the side of an appropriate plastic straw, place over the leg and tape it. That way there is room for swelling.Bird bones heal fast. Get it to an avian vet asap. Have a tweet year.

Call your local vet and ask some questions, they will more than likely tell you to bring it in. Or you can look up a local wildlife shelter or rescue center. They rescue all sorts of animals. Good Luck, hope the little fella is okay.

Call your local animal shelter and ask if they know of any animal refuge in your area to take the bird to. I hate to tell you but I doubt very much the bird will survive in your care. It has nothing to do with you but everything to do with the fact that most people don't have the knowledge nor the skills to care for wild animals on their own.

WAIT, do not do anything without knowing what type of bird it is. If it is a worm eating bird then feeding it worms and chicken pate CAT FOOD, not normal one, will probably be fine, but if it is a seed eating bird then you will kill it if you feed it meat. If you do not know what it is, take it to a rescue centre. they should be able to help the bird more.

good luck
