Lets see Ive stretched my holes, let em close up and stretched them again! I usually start small... I first put in a 14 gauge (i like to use pinchers when i am stretching, alot of other people like the cones but they are too long for my taste)... Give it time to heal as you step down each gauge! Don't skip gauges... I have done this and it makes your ears feel like they are on fire! Make sure to turn and twist them as undesirable this may sound... Keep them clean I use alcohol but peroxide will work as well (Do not use any antibiotic cream)! Usually wait at least two weeks before stepping down a gauge size! I'm not sure which size you are trying to achieve... My first hole is a 4 gauge and my second holes are 6 gauges! You can go much bigger than this if you wish! I would recommend using the cones for anything bigger than a 4 gauge so you can slowly stretch the ear rather than forcing the issue! Good Luck! If you are unsure of what to do see a licensed piercing establishment and speak to a professional... TAKE YOUR TIME in the process!

When I had first started stretching my ears, I went from a regular ear ring to a 14 gauge (1.628 mm) So I think that you could do that, then go to a 12 gauge(2.053 mm) with no problem using any kind of body jewelry. It jumps more in mm when you go to a 10 gauge(2.588 mm) and where you are wanting to go, an 8 gauge (3.264 mm.) You may have a little trouble going to a 10 gauge with a regular body jewelry bar, but when you go to an 8 gauge I would kind of suggest you use a taper or the pincher looking things (I know that really dosen't help :/ ) So that it dosen't tare your lobe or anything, and plus, it helps for it to go through easier. I hope this helps you alot.

First of all, I would NEVER buy jewelry from eBay. Sure its cheap, but that's the problem...its too cheap and a lot of it is low quality. I would never, but I'm sure it won't be too big of an issue.
You need to figure out what your target gauge is going to be. Do you want something just a little larger or do you want to be able to stick your thumb through your ear?
http://www.bodyartforms.com/measurement_guide.asp
There is a gauge and measurement chart you can look at to decide.
Since you are a first time stretcher and there is a lot to know, I suggest you talk with a local piercer. They usually have stretching kits and safe ways to stretch without hurting yourself and ruining your ear lobes.
Best of luck.

I'd recommend always going to a professional. They are the only ones who can look at your ear and the placement of your current holes and tell you how practical your goal is. At the beginning it is pretty easy to skip a few gauges, but after 8, I'd go one at a time and make sure to let them fully heal before going down another size.
As for the people who tell you to not do it, it is pretty easy to stretch back down to a "noraml size" if you want to. Preperation H will help with the process and it got me back down in no time at all.

OWWWW!!!
You need to go and see a professional piercer/tattooist, they will advise you on what size you'll need, and how long you'll need to leave it in before you put a larger one in
everybody's different, some people can stretch there skin more than others, and can use larger tunnels. Don't listen to someone who says "use this - it'll be fine" speak to somebody who knows what they're on about
and don't worry about the future, my piercings have never been a problem for me, nor has my dress sense, and I'm definitely not what would be classed as normal... although kids? hmmm maybe the flesh tunnel is a bad idea, I can just see a 12 month old baby grabbing his mothers 2 inch wide ear loop and swinging on it :D
my son was always fascinated with my piercings, luckily he grew out of it...

From what i have heard - you need to start smalland work your way up. You should feel resistance with the taper, but not enough to rip your earlobe.
Now - before you begin - consider if you will still want huge holes in your ears when you are oldar. Consider your first big job interview. When you get married, when you are a mother, when you are a grandmother. Sure, you can get it repaired down the road, but your ear will never look the same.

If you really do want to get your ear stretched, i can't stop you... but when my brother got both his ears stretched, he didn't realise that they probably wouldn't close up after. his still havn't closed up after 9 years...
He started off with a 2mm i think, or maybe 3mm. but they got to be so i could fit my thumb through it. And now.. they still havn't closed up, and he's having a hard time finding a job because the people didn't like his ears.. thought it would turn off customers or something. Meh.

You will need to stretch using a taper, and surgi lube or something of the like. Your best bet would be to go to a professional to have the tapering done, because they know how to safely to stretch the skin, and if you do it yourself, you run the risk of ripping your skin.
That would be bad: http://wiki.bmezine.com/images/c/cf/Earlobe_Tearing-1.jpg
