You can do it stove top, but I never have. I'm assuming you mean a whole chicken and not just the breast or pieces.

You can do it in a pot on top of the stove. You can do it in the oven the same way you would do a turkey. Or if you don't want to mess with it, throw it in a crock pot in the morning and turn it on high. It will be ready around 3:00 and you don't have to think about it. If you're not ready for it at 3:00, then turn the heat down, or just cook it on low all day.

It's usually 20 minutes/.5 kilo + 20 mins. So, if you have a chicken that weighs 2kilos you would bake it in the oven for an hour and forty minutes. Cover it with foil for all but the last 20 mins.

Cook the chicken until the juices coming out of the chicken run clear. Also, pierce the flesh of the chicken - if there is no pink, you can take it off the stove.

Put a skewer through the chicken and if the juice is clear (no signs of blood) , the chicken is cooked through.

Depends on the size & if its stuffed.

5 lb. chicken at 375 degrees for 2 1/2 hours covered.
