it's better than fair. You will leave your high school with resume-padding experience that is valuable for college admissions.
ever notice that the kids who are teachers pets and get scholarships when they graduate are also the ones who volunteer for everything - from homecoming committee to church functions to habitat for humanity - they aren't just doing it to meet people and look like a goody-two-shoes, they are doing it because it helps on job applications, it helps when competing for scholarships and it helps when going on those job interviews after college.
So do what the successful kids do (the ones that are gonna grow up to be politicians and other rich con-artist types) - grab those volunteer opportunites, and milk it for all the credit you can get.

No, under no circumstances. intense college is confusing sufficient already with out including seventy 5 hours directly to the common 8am-3pm weekday time table, no longer even counting the infants who artwork jobs and do different extracurricular activities. some factors say that 20% of highschool grads are nonetheless mildly illiterate. whilst there are a number of scholars that may handle a lot of community provider, others might desire to concentration on much greater pressing themes until now graduation. community provider may well be an particularly useful and considerable adventure for infants, yet including it to the graduation standards may well be risky and impractical. intense college desires to concentration on literacy and questioning skills first and maximum appropriate, and community provider is something to be inspired, no longer enforced. -Valerie, 20 (been there, carried out that)

My son has to do it too, and I'm glad. I think young people should learn about helping others. I think it's a great idea. My 8 year old has been doing community service for a few years now. There's nothing wrong with that!

It's not fair, but check out an event called Relay For Life. It is an 18-24 hour event so you can knock out a lot of your hours at once. Visit cancer.org to find out more
