Are you trying for a law enforcement job? Each department has different guidelines about hiring. Just look at the website for recruiting and it will tell what disqualifies you. Some misdemeanors only disqualify you for a certain length of time from the beginning. Just look at websites for Houston, Dallas, Austin PD, etc. Traffic tickets won't disqualify you, but if you have been convicted of family violence, theft, etc you might have a problem. Class B misdemeanor and above is probably what misdemeanors they are referring to.

Whatever the State of Texas considers to be a misdemeanor offense. It would seem that if you have one, you are still good to go, but a second misdemeanor offense, may be a disqualifyer. A suggestion would be to ask your prospective employer, what is considered to be a misdemeanor, and see how it affects you.
