You can always take a class some where or invest in some tapes or CDs that teach languages.

In this regard, I have four points to make:
1. Read English language novels by good authors, which contain a lot of dialogues, simple language, and very interesting storyline.
Avoid any litrature which includes slang. The writer I strongly recommend is Nevile Shute (an Australian writer) . The other writer of interest is Graham Greene.
2. Move and get involved with people, who speak really good English. The more you speak the language, the more adept you will be. But be careful when you speak it, because, there must be someone around you to correct you gently, if you commit some mistake. Also try to write as much as possible, and let your writings be corrected by someone knowledgeable. You yourself can correct your writings. When you read carefully your own written words, you may notice many mistakes. Correct these.
3. Knowledge of a lot of words, that is, a good vocabulary , is good, but not very essential. Good speakers always use simple words. In spite of using the simplest of words, Bible is one of the best selling books in the world, and an all time hit. AND SEE, HOW STRONGLY BIBLE CONVEYS ITS MESSAGE.We all know that every difficult, long, and tongue twisting single word can be expressed in a `few very simple` words. If you inculcate the habit of using these `very simple words`, you will never feel the need of pausing in between your conversations, because, a set of simple words will always be at hand to express your thoughts beautifully..
4. I recommend a grammer book "High School English Grammer and Composition" by Wren & Martin, and its 'key' , (it is available in India) . Try to solve the unsolved exercises in the book with the help of solved book, i:e the "key"
I am very sure if you follow my suggestions, you will not only be able to speak excellent English, but also become good in English composition.

Best way to learn english is to read newspapers like Hindu and Times of India.. I am suggesting that as you will learn the language by reading about current affairs which might interest you and also .

for a start, just read some petty news articles and try to repeat the same in front of a mirror... ensure that you dont get nervous.. after some days, try to use these words in your day to day conversation with your friends .. just slowly go on like this for 2 months or so and you will feel the difference ...

I studied in Tamil Medium school and learned spoken english only by reading news papers like Hindu and magazines like The Week which present the news in simple language and also contain lot of information

English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the Internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of on line courses, which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt
