They don't understand what God did in the Sacrament. The Sacrament of Holy Baptism marks a person forever "as God's own" and can only be done once.

Some do it when they switch Churches, especially if they are switching denominations. Seems a lot of Christian groups have different ideas about How one gets Baptized. Some do it in Jesus' name only... some do it in the of the "father, son and holy spirit" respectively and some others do it with the Hebrew name of God, YHVH.
As for there being only One Baptism... wouldn't it be the Baptism of the Holy Spirit itself? and not water at all?

It depends on the baptism itself. Remember that in the new testament there was an instance where the Apostles re-baptized some people because the ones who baptized them before hand did not possess the proper authority to preform that particular ordinance. Otherwise once is plenty. It's a good idea to investigate where a person received the authority to baptize in order to make it valid. Hint: a college of divinity does not have that authority nor does self supposed righteousness. It has to come from God. Hum-mm. Makes you think huh?

Some people think the water in the baptismal pool is what washes away sins. Some churches require it for membership. Some people just want to be re-baptized to get closer to the Lord after they have been away from God

In the scripture in your question, the Bible is referring to the point that there is no great or low people no matter what cultural differences or race or financial background, or sinful background; instead, we as believers are one. We are all equally saved and equally treasured by God if we believe in Jesus.
Now, just like couples sometimes rededicate their marriage vows before others, some people rededicate their lives to Christ when they have drifted away from him a bit and want to do something to represent that re-dedication which is why some people are baptized twice in the water.

I had all three of my kids Baptised when they were infants. My oldest (12 year old daughter) made the choice to accept God as her Saviour and was Baptised again along with her Dad. I find the 2nd Baptism to be authentic because she welcomed God into her heart on her own.It was a joyous day.

You are only supposed to be Baptized once. In fact, according to Catholics...and most every Christian religion I can think of...only one baptism is recorded and recognized.
Anything else is just washing your body...not your soul.

Unfortunately, these are the people who are probably taught that salvation can be lost or undone once they are saved. Nothing wrong with multiple baptisms but.....one should do the trick...it's not a requirement for salvation anyway.

I think sometimes people get baptized and then they make poor choices and stray away from God. They get their lives back on track and want to symbolically rededicate their lives to the Lord.

I have been Baptised twice. The first one didnt count though. I thought I was saved but was only fooled by the devil. It wasnt till I truly was saved that my baptism counted.
