The problem with this reporting is that it makes the mistaken assumption that we dont still exist. We do still exist, we're alive and living amongst you Humans right now. And we're not "backwards", either. We have our own website, and we're highly advanced, though we prefer to live an ecologically sustainable lifestyle.

I'm a biologist who teaches evolution....the news is very exciting but I think we evolutionists really have to be cautious with this one. I'm leaning toward the idea that it is a dwarf variety of Homo erectus....but the tools used by H. floresiensis are quite atypical for H. erectus (who pretty much used the same tool for a million years). I think we'll make many wrong turns (much to the delight of the Creationists) until we figure out precisely where this piece of the puzzle fits.
