It is a criminal offence for any person to sell alcohol to a person who is under the age of 18 anywhere. There is no exception to this.
It is also an offence for anyone under 18 to purchase or attempt to purchase alcohol, or for someone over 18 to purchase on their behalf.
A 16 or 17 year old is however allowed to drink beer, wine or cider with a table meal provided that an adult purchases the drink. An adult must accompany them at the table meal.

Shandy usually refers to a drink of mixed beer and lemonade. Of course, beer may be non-alcoholic or contain alcohol.
If you were referring to alcoholic shandy, to be consumed in the UK, then the following applies:
'It is against the law for anyone under 18 to buy alcohol in a pub, off-licence, supermarket, or other outlet, or for anyone to buy alcohol for someone under 18 to consume in a pub or a public place.'

Other countries will have differing laws, so you will need to be specific about the country that you're interested in.

You can buy a single pint of beer or glass of wine in a pub IF you are consuming it with a meal.
But I think that you have to have an adult with you to do this, although I'm not 100% sure on that!

they can't buy it, but they can drink it providing they are having a meal in an area set aside for eating, are accompanied by an adult at all times and are at least 16
16 or 17 years old
Your child can drink beer, wine or cider with a meal if it is bought for them by someone over 18, but it must be in an area specifically set aside for meals and not in the bar area.
In Scotland, 16 and 17 year olds can buy beer, wine or cider so long as it's served with a meal and consumed in an area used solely for eating meals.

Miners interior the united kingdom can drink in pubs. Minors, on the different hand, might desire to be 18 to purchase alcoholic beverages. that is not any longer unlawful for them to consume alcoholic beverages, although that is an offence for anybody to purchase beverages for them to consume. i be attentive to, that is not any longer tremendously logical, yet that's the regulation. If the pub is a eating place (as some are at the instant) then you particularly are legally entitled to drink alcoholic beverages offered on your behalf offering you're over sixteen. bear in mind, that is English regulation - US regulation is extremely distinctive

no more so than they can buy or drink anything else. It's still alcoholic.
I think you can drink with a meal in a restaurant at 16 though, if you're with adults.
