It's a 5 minute walk from Hastings Station to Hastings Town Centre.
Leave the station, cross over the crossroads at the lights, and keep walking straight. After about 5 mins, the sea is in front of you, and the Town Centre is on your left.
The pier is another 10-15 mins walk along the seafront (turn right when you reach the sea).
(Note: Warrior Square Station (mentioned in answer above) is in St Leonards - and is another 15 mins along the seafront).
