I live in Boston. Where can I purchase calling cards that would work in Ecuador? I will be calling the USA when I get there.

I won't suggest getting a calling card to be used in ecuador, the rates are about 70cents per minute and that is not really a good deal if you are going to compare prices from there. There are several places that they call "locutorios" that offer IP telephony at good prices counting the dollar exchange.

If you have a computer there, just download the net2phone software and buy some minutes, $10 should be enough, or use yahoo.

I just returned from traveling around europe. I used Onesuite.com the whole time to call home and hotels etc. while i was traveling. It was the cheapest i could find while also getting a clear connection. So many cards i tried would give me the crappiest connection, i couldn't even hear the person on the other end. I also could recharge the card from any internet connection. They have local access numbers throughout the world and toll-free numbers.
Check it out and see how there coverage is in South America.
Have a great trip!
