I would suggest getting AVG Free Edition 7.5 anti-virus software from Grisoft.com. It's free, and works very well. Once you have it, scan your computer for problems, and if there is, the program will show you how to quarantine it in their vault. Get updates each day, so it recognizes new viruses that will come up. Since this free edition does not have spyware protection in it, you will need a good program for that, like SpyBot Search & Destroy which is free by going to " Ewido.com ".

Norton is a bloated resource hog that slows your computer down...NOD I have never used. Personally, I like AVG from Grisoft. It's free, you get virus definition updates daily and it uses very little resources. I've been using it on my Windows boxes for about 4 years with no problems.

I have a friend who used NOD and got rid of it. And I got rid of Norton and went with Kapersky. I guess it depends on who you're talking to about which is best.

I use McAfee with automatic updates and I bought their Firewall program also.
If a program doesn't have automatic online updates, it's only as good as the day the disk was made.
