Have you tried Dogs Trust?
Am not sure if any are close to where you live but take a look :

I do voluntary work there and it is really rewarding and enjoyable!
If there are no centers near you try looking for other kennels within better distance.

P.s : Voluntary work goes down a treat on a C.V!

why not try your local charity shop or ask at the civic offices in the guildhall for their ideas well done for wanting to do something for other people lets hope pompey do well tonight
