I'm sure this questions has been asked plenty of times but:

If you believe there is nothing after this life why do you seem to care so much how Christians, Muslims and whatever other God believing people do
the only answer I can come up with is that you like to feel superior over those silly religious people

We are philosophers. Religion fills a small subset of philosophy. We are studying you.

This question has been asked and answered numerous times. Let me give you a sort of recap:

1. The topic is Religion and Sprituality. Many people who do not believe in a deity are spiritual, for example, Buddhists.

2. This is a public forum and atheists are members of the public.

3. While atheists do not believe in God, they often have opinions about religion, and would like to discuss them.

4. It is valuable to have differing points of view in a discussion, since in that way, we might learn from one another.

I am not an athiest but an agnostic (that means I don,t know). I don,t feel superior to anyone but by your statement you would rather people who do not have the same beliefs as you should not talk to you. The way in which a society is better is by the open and frank debate of a number of viewpoints, why should athiests not question your views if you are certain of these and can defend them rationally there should not be a problem. nobody is stopping you questioning an atheists views

Yes that would be true, and it would also be true as to why christians fight with atheists.
God created the universe so that you may enjoy this one life, yet christians are not satisfied with that they wanted more, so they took the bait offered by the false prophet Jesus just as it was predicted they would.
God is not a conscious being in some fantasy land in the sky, you have this life, apreciate it instead of always complaining about this terrible life you must be "saved from".

Peace!
They should be in the Philosophy or Humanities Section. Atheism is a Philosophy, your first answerer admitted that. It s not a religion because they don't believe in God. They are also not spiritual or into spirituality. Some say they are spiritual because they meditate, but their meditation is more for relaxation and self-awareness.
Instead of atheists I would like psychologists in this section. Psychology and religion complement each other like ham and eggs. I think it would be more productive because we will be searching for solutions and helping each other.
On the other hand if you have atheists in this section, it is like mixing water and oil. It won't work. Atheists are reason driven; theists are faith driven. How can you reconcile the two?
God bless!

If you believe there is something so important after this life, why do you care about what people do in this one?

I know people who go nuts whenever someone says something they think is wrong.

"No, the Broncos did win the super bowl! You're wrong, Skype is cheaper than BT for calling Manchester! I am not French, I am Canadian!"

I think it is silly, I mean, let kids believe in Santa Claus and Luke Skywalker, as long as they don't declare a Jedi Jihad or Reindeer crusade against me.

I normally don't care what other religious people believe. But when their beliefs start spilling over into how they act and their actions start affecting how I and others are allowed to live, then their religion does concern me.

When the President of the United States talks about God wanting him to invade another country, that concerns me.

When people want to replace science in the classroom with religion, that concerns me.

When the spending of public research money is being influenced by what people claim are their religious convictions, that concerns me.

When adults in committed monogamous relationships are denied civil rights because of someone else's religious leanings, that concerns me.

When people drive planes into buildings because they believe it will bring them to a divine paradise, that concerns me
.
As far as people's beliefs impact other people's lives, that concerns me.

Who said all Atheists believe there is nothing after this life?

Many believe organized religion but a tool to further one from spirituality. This is the spirituality section too right? Many religions are Atheistic in their structure. Spirituality can mean different things to different people. To many people, and the dharmic religions, spirituality is having a perfect sense of self.

I hardly see how the belief in deities is a prerequisite to posting in this section.

Many atheists do in fact have spiritual views, so your statement that we only believe in the physical is a faulty generalization. I don't believe in deities, but I'm a Neopagan Taoist.

I'm here to represent my different viewpoint. I dislike the idea of people walking around thinking that everyone thinks like them, when it's not true.

I don't particularly care that religious people have their beliefs... but there are a lot of questions here directed at 'non-believers'. What would you do if no one answered them?

"Silly religious people?" Just remember you said that, not me.
I guess my point for being here is I do an important job (I'm a nurse) and I don't see any of you born-agains breaking down the doors to help us, so I and those like me have to do the work for you. We take care of the people you "silly religious people" like to turn your backs on, when your nose-holding "charities" won't help them any more.
Any other silly questions?

Because the subject is "Religion & Spirituality". Religion is not a prerequisite for Spirituality as they are mutually exclusive.

Thus, those who don't believe the same can come together and discuss and debate without the superiority complex you speak of...some do require that part, unfortunately, but most are here to discuss intelligently what people believe.
